Walking in Lesotho
Our hills and mountains were just made for walking, and the hundreds of kilometres of mountain trails offer a wonderful opportunity of discovering the best of Lesotho. Spectacular views, bracing mountain air, the unforgettable sight of a rare Bald Ibis teaching its young to fly, a cooling swim in the waters of a mountain pool fed by a cascading waterfall, or picnicking in fields filled with mimosa or peach blossom, the experiences are unforgettable. Walking tours can be started from most of our mountain lodges, or a driver can take you into the mountains to a suitable point, and pick you up at the end of the day. Just ask for a local guide if you are going long distances. As in mountainous terrain throughout the world, walkers are advised to bring warm, waterproof clothing, wear stout walking shoes or boots, and carry a compass, torch and other emergency equipment.
